In this workshop, Ahmari Benton will teach participants the technical process of preparing a 2D painting surface from start to finish. Under the guidance of instructors, participants will assemble stretcher bars, stretch and secure canvas fabric, and apply gesso to create a professional-quality painting surface. The session emphasizes craftsmanship, material understanding, and practical studio techniques. A follow-up session will be offered the following day for those who need additional time to gesso their canvas or wish to complete that step with instructor supervision.
