Fire Flow

In this Pay-What-You Can workshop, learn how to dance with fire with experienced instructor Marilyn Besasie. People who practice the flow arts usually want to graduate to using fire, and they will do so even with very little knowledge of how to do it as safely as possible. These workshops aim to teach these flow practitioners what they need to know to keep themselves, their surroundings, and their audience as safe as can be when using live fire. In addition, some flow practitioners will want to “go pro,” or take on professional, paying gigs as fire entertainers. These workshops will give them the elements they need to be aware of when they turn pro. From obtaining insurance, working with fire indoors, crowd control, and even flying across the country with fire tools, everything will be covered in each 2 hour workshop. The first hour of the workshop will take place before dusk and will be an indoor presentation of information consisting of handouts and videos. For the second hour we will move outdoors and begin the live fire portion of the workshop. There are two parts to performing with fire and each student will practice both parts, which is performing with the fire, and being a safety guard for a performer.
