The Ancient Art of Ebru

In this class, participants will be introduced to the traditional Turkish art of water marbling (ebru). We will explore its brief history, its connections to Turkish and Islamic arts, its underlying philosophy, and the materials and techniques that bring ebru to life. Our teaching artist Vesile Yilmaz will teach how to work with ceramic surfaces, including surface preparation and dipping techniques.
